Why Coral?

Oceans cover over 70% of Earth’s surface, produce more than half of our planet’s oxygen, absorb massive amounts of carbon and heat, and drive global weather systems. At the center of this life-supporting system are coral reefs—home to over 25% of all marine species.

Yet coral reefs are under severe threat, facing collapse within our lifetime.

That’s why we created Coral—a science-backed, mission-led brand dedicated to supporting ocean health. Our products are designed to protect what protects us.

I created Coral to redefine what it means to care—for ourselves and for the world around us. Coral is about beauty and adventure without compromise. Emma is currently a senior at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, where she focuses on the intersection of product innovation and environmental impact. Raised in Boulder, Colorado, she’s a lifelong nature lover and changemaker. In addition to leading Coral, she serves as Strategic Partnerships Manager for Dragonfly Health Media, sits on a youth entrepreneur advisory board, and was a youth delegate to the United Nations. She also completed the Berkeley StEP Business Accelerator.

Business Advisory

Nova Covington — Founder & CEO, Goddess Garden and One Planet Brands

Nova is a pioneer in “reef-friendly” sunscreen innovation and founded Goddess Garden, which became one of the most trusted mineral sunscreen brands in North America. She also launched Protect Our Mother, a nonprofit focused on ocean preservation. At Coral, she advises on product integrity, brand mission, and clean formulation standards.

Carlotta Mast — VP & Market Leader, Informa Media, Health & Nutrition Group

Carlotta leads strategy for top industry platforms including Natural Products Expo and NBJ Summit. With deep knowledge of consumer trends and sustainability, she advises Coral on brand visibility and media positioning. She also serves on the boards of the Climate Collaborative and Naturally Network.

Mark Retzloff — Founder, Horizon Organic Dairy

Mark is a sustainability trailblazer with nearly five decades of experience in organic food and mission-driven business. He helped launch Horizon Organic Dairy and serves on the boards of Traditional Medicinals and Crocs. He supports Coral with governance, growth strategy, and brand ethics.

Tracy Miedema - VP, Innovation & Brand Development, Presence Marketing

Tracy is a leader in natural products retail strategy with expertise in distribution through Whole Foods/Amazon, Target, and Costco. A former chair of the USDA National Organic Standards Board, she advises Coral on compliance, channel development, and retail growth in the wellness space.
